Radio Silence Productions has confirmed that Scream VII is in the works, although Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media Group have not officially announced it. According to Bloody Disgusting, Christopher Landon will take over as director from Radio Silence’s Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett.
As per reports, Radio Silence was interested in directing Scream VII, but their schedule was occupied by a secret Universal Studios monster movie. Due to SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, the production of Scream VII might take a while to begin. A lot of film production was halted to support the strikes.
Scream VI was released in 2023 and grossed $169 million worldwide, becoming the franchise’s highest-grossing US film at $100 million since Scream 2 (1997). Directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett and written by James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick, it features stars Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Mason Gooding, Hayden Panettiere, and Courteney Cox reprising their roles.
The plot follows: “Four survivors of the Ghostface murders leave Woodsboro behind for a fresh start in New York City. However, they soon find themselves in a fight for their lives when a new killer embarks on a bloody rampage.“
Scream VI is now available on Paramount+.
