Sony’s Crunchyroll and Amazon have teamed up to bring Crunchyroll’s anime streaming service to Prime Video, providing access to Crunchyroll’s 24,000 hours of content through Amazon’s platform.

Prime members can choose between two Crunchyroll memberships: Fan at $7.99/month in the U.S. and Mega Fan at $9.99/month. Both options offer ad-free streaming of the entire Crunchyroll library and early access to new episodes right after their Japanese broadcast. Mega Fan subscribers can also download titles for offline viewing at launch, with Amazon hinting at additional non-video benefits in the near future. (Both plans are available at the same price directly through Crunchyroll.)

In a statement, Terry Li, executive VP of emerging business at Crunchyroll, said, “Crunchyroll offers an anime adventure for every kind of fan. From sports to romantic comedy, horror, and action to slice-of-life, even the anime-curious can get immersed in our library.” Terry added, “We look forward to welcoming new fans into the anime community through our launch on Prime Video Channels.”

The Crunchyroll app is available on 13 platforms, and if you subscribe through Prime Video Channels, you can access Crunchyroll on many devices, including smart TVs and set-top boxes. Crunchyroll has also launched a free, ad-supported anime channel in the U.S. in a separate agreement with partners like Amazon’s Freevee.

Crunchyroll offers over 1,300 series and films, with a total of 46,000 show episodes. The fall anime season includes more than 50 new titles, such as “Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End,” “Jujutsu Kaisen,” and the long-running “One Piece” series (not to be confused with Netflix’s live-action adaptation).

Crunchyroll is a partnership between Sony Pictures Entertainment in the U.S. and Aniplex in Japan, both part of the Sony Group.

Amazon’s deal with Crunchyroll is part of their plan to centralize multiple streaming subscriptions on Prime Video, all accessible through a single Amazon sign-in. Prime members can subscribe to Prime Video channels without needing additional apps beyond Prime Video. This allows them to enjoy anime content from Crunchyroll seamlessly on Prime Video.
