Sony’s ‘Karate Kid,’ starring Ben Wang, Jackie Chan, and Ralph Macchio, has wrapped filming.
On Instagram, director Jonathan Entwistle posted a story confirming the wrap of ‘Karate Kid’. Filming began in April 2024 and continued for 48 days in Montreal, Canada.
Recently, Chan was spotted on the ‘Karate Kid’ set in Montreal (Watch the footage). He seems to have enjoyed visiting Montreal’s restaurants and cafes during filming. Check out the image of Chan with the owner of a cafe.

Directed by Entwistle from a screenplay by Rob Lieber and produced by Karen Rosenfelt. The film follows the story to the East Coast and focuses on a teen from China (Wang) who finds strength and direction via martial arts and a tough-but-wise mentor (or two).
The film also stars Joshua Jackson as Victor, Shaunette Renée Wilson as Ms. Morgan, Sadie Stanley, Ming-Na Wen, Aramis Knight, Wyatt Oleff, and Jennifer-Lyn Christie.
According to the film’s synopsis: “Li, a proficient fighter and student in Beijing, faces a major change when his mother decides to move to Brooklyn due to a work opportunity. Struggling with a past tragedy, Li clashes with his doctor mother, who is also dealing with the same tragedy but with a different approach. Despite his mother’s aversion to violence and Kung Fu, Li discovers meaning in training Victor in this martial art, leading him to return to the ring as well.”
Produced by Karen Rosenfelt, Will Smith, and Jada Pinkett Smith, with production companies including Columbia Pictures, Sunswept Entertainment, and Westbrook Studios.
The new ‘Karate Kid’ movie is scheduled to hit theaters on May 30, 2 025, by Sony Pictures.
