Amazon MGM Studios is set to adapt “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” series, led by acclaimed showrunner Veena Sud, known for her work on “The Killing” and “Seven Seconds.” This series will explore the world of Stieg Larsson‘s “Millennium” novels.
“The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” Series to Feature a New Standalone Story
Variety reveals that the series will focus on Lisbeth Salander, a central character from Larsson’s novels. While plot specifics remain confidential, Amazon MGM Studios, in collaboration with Left Bank Pictures (a Sony Pictures Television company), will be responsible for bringing this intriguing story to life.
The Millennium book series has two main characters, Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist. Stieg Larsson wrote the first three books, and they are “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo,” “The Girl Who Played With Fire,” and “The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets’ Nest.” After Larsson’s death, David Lagercrantz wrote more books, like “The Girl in the Spider’s Web.” Karin Smirnoff also joined later with “The Girl in the Eagle’s Talons” in 2022. These books are very popular and have sold over 100 million copies worldwide.
“The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” is a film series based on Stieg Larsson’s popular Millennium Book trilogy. The first movie, released in 2009 and directed by Niels Arden Oplev, introduced the iconic characters Lisbeth Salander and Mikael Blomkvist. Noomi Rapace portrayed Lisbeth, while Michael Nyqvist played Mikael. The film was a critical and commercial success and was followed by two sequels, “The Girl Who Played with Fire” (2009) and “The Girl Who Kicked the Hornets’ Nest” (2009), both directed by Daniel Alfredson. In 2011, a Hollywood adaptation of the first book was released, directed by David Fincher, with Rooney Mara as Lisbeth and Daniel Craig as Mikael.
