Warner Bros. Pictures released the first trailer for Ishana Night Shyamalan‘s ‘The Watchers,’ a supernatural horror film starring Dakota Fanning as a 28-year-old artist named Mina.
From producer M. Night Shyamalan comes ‘The Watchers,’ written for the screen and directed by Ishana Night Shyamalan and based on the novel by A.M. Shine.
What is the Plot of ‘The Watchers’?
‘The Watchers’ follows Mina, a 28-year-old artist, who gets stranded in an expansive, untouched forest in western Ireland. When Mina finds shelter, she unknowingly becomes trapped alongside three strangers who are watched and stalked by mysterious creatures each night.
The film stars Fanning (“Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” “Ocean’s Eight”), Georgina Campbell (“Barbarian,” “Suspicion”), Oliver Finnegan (“Creeped Out,” “Outlander”) and Olwen Fouere (“The Northman,” “The Tourist”).
Speaking to The Wrap, Ishana revealed an unexpected inspiration for ‘The Watchers’: the work of Hayao Miyazaki. Ishana said, “His movies are very sacred to me. I don’t allow anyone else to watch them with me. Throughout my life, I touch base with the various movies he has. I think they’re just incredibly emotive and magical and beautiful. He’s just such a hero.”
The film is produced by M. Night Shyamalan, Ashwin Rajan, and Nimitt Mankad. The executive producers are Jo Homewood and Stephen Dembitzer.
When is the Release Date for ‘The Watchers’?
‘The Watchers,’ presented by New Line Cinema, is set to open in theaters internationally beginning June 12, 2024, and in North America on June 14, 2024. The film will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures.
