The Window to Make World Premiere at 20th Annual LA Femme International Film Festival a short film by Turkmenistan director Nabat Shir, will make its Los Angeles debut at the City of Angels Film Festival, October 10-13, then screen again on the 20th Annual LA Femme Film Festival at the Regal Theatres at LA Live in downtown Los Angeles, October 24-27, 2024.
The Window is a contemplative journey through the life of Vivian, where a window in her family home serves as a metaphor for the choices she makes in life. Now in a wheelchair, Vivian finally sees the beauty outside and regrets not living her life the way she truly wanted.
Written and directed by Shir, the film was produced by XXXXX, with cinematography by Yuuki Shimizu and sound design by Mark Otim. Award-winning composer Marina Ortega Mira and editor Haley Breese complete the team. The film stars Mallory Ivy and Jared Polivka.
The Window has already garnered significant acclaim and awards at the Sipontum Arthouse International Film Festival in Summer 2024, including three awards for Best Screenplay, Best Cinematography, and Best Sound Design.
Shir acknowledges that her inspiration for The Window came from filmmakers Ingmar Bergman, Andrei Tarkovsky, Orson Welles, David Lynch, and Federico Fellini, all directors known for exploring the depths of the human psyche.
“The film invites viewers to engage with the story of an elderly woman who regrets not living her life the way she truly wanted,” explains Shir. “I was also gratified to see the film evolve into something even greater — a mirror for each person, reflecting their own personal meanings and prompting viewers to contemplate their own life choices, which makes the short film even more universal.”
The Window will screen on October XX at Harmony Gold, and on Thursday, October 24th at 10 AM at the Regal Cinemas at LA Live in downtown Los Angeles, located at 1000 W Olympic Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90015.
