The God of Thunder is back to his Avengers: Infinity War persona in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday. The Russo Brothers described Chris Hemsworth’s Thor in Doomsday as a “warrior version of him, that warrior who has lost everything.”
The trailers for Avengers: Doomsday show Thor wielding Stormbreaker and attacking in an Infinity War-style manner, but Robert Downey Jr.‘s Doctor Doom effortlessly stops Stormbreaker with two fingers. This scene already shows how powerful Doom is and suggests that Thor may need another weapon upgrade.
In a recent interview with CBR, Joe Russo teased the Thor vs. Doctor Doom fight in Avengers: Doomsday, promising that it will be “a hell of a fight.”
Joe Russo said, “As you can see from the trailers, it’s going to be a hell of a fight.”

Joe praised Chris Hemsworth’s versatility as Thor, as his ability to adapt the character across different directors, styles, and tones.
Joe says Hemsworth has shown a “wide array” of interpretations of Thor throughout the MCU, but the Russo Brothers have a specific vision for the character in Avengers: Doomsday. So, they planned to carry forward the version of Thor established in Avengers: Infinity War.
Joe said, “It’s fascinating how malleable he is playing that role, and the range that he has. He has a wide array of directors with different tastes and different tones that have interpreted the character. We have a specific point of view on that character. That’s what we’re going to carry forward, the Infinity War Thor.”
