Marvel’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day has resumed production in Glasgow, Scotland, after a one-day hold due to weather conditions.
On August 5, Tom Holland was spotted on the set of Spider-Man: Brand New Day. They are currently filming a web-swinging explosion scene. Users on X (formerly Twitter) have shared footage and images from the set. Check it out below.

As we reported, the scene currently being filmed is: “The Punisher was chasing Scorpion, and Spider-Man was trying to stop him from killing his target.“
Before production began, Holland had already said that Spider-Man: Brand New Day would use practical effects and classic filmmaking techniques. He confirmed that they would be shooting in real-world locations rather than relying heavily on CGI or virtual sets.

Holland also mentioned that the previous Spider-Man film, Spider-Man: No Way Home, was limited by COVID-19 protocols. But with the new film, the team can now go bigger and be more authentic with practical sets. A major action sequence will also be filmed on the streets of Glasgow. He said, “We’re gonna use the streets of Glasgow for this massive set piece that we’re putting together.”

Destin Daniel Cretton is directing Brand New Day, with a screenplay by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. The film stars Holland, returning as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, with Zendaya and Jacob Batalon also reprising their roles as MJ Watson and Ned Leeds. Sadie Sink joins the cast as Gwen Stacy, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle (a.k.a. the Punisher), and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/The Hulk. Liza Colón-Zayas has been cast in an undisclosed role, and Michael Mando is reprising his Spider-Man: Homecoming role as Mac Gargan.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will feature a darker tone, inspired by The Amazing Spider-Man 2 and the Kraven’s Last Hunt storyline from the comics.
Here’s the synopsis for Spider-Man: Brand New Day:

As shadows from the past creep into his present, he must redefine what it truly means to be a hero — on his own.
The film is produced by Amy Pascal, Rachel O’Connor, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, and Mitch Bell.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day will hit theaters and IMAX on July 31, 2026.
