Warning: This article contains spoilers for Marvel’s VisionQuest.
A preview of Marvel Television’s VisionQuest was shown at San Diego Comic-Con Málaga 2026.
The Marvel Studios panel at SDCC Málaga began with the first 22 minutes of the first episode of VisionQuest, followed by a discussion with Paul Bettany about his collaboration with the series’ cast.
Following the 22-minute preview of the first episode, some important spoilers have reportedly surfaced. Here’s what has been revealed:
VisionQuest takes place in Edinburgh, where Vision works at the same pub he and Wanda frequently visited before the events of Avengers: Infinity War.
The pub even features a “W + V” carving on one of the tables, referencing Wanda and Vision’s relationship.

The pub owner notices that Vision is no longer the same person he used to be. He also claims that Wanda was “buried under some rocks,” though the details of her fate remain unclear.
Vision is clearly struggling with grief following Wanda’s disappearance. Paul Bettany described the series as a mix of Pinocchio and Frankenstein, with Vision searching for what it means to be a “real boy” while dealing with deep questions about his identity.
Inside his mind, Vision regularly retreats to a house where he interacts with various AI characters, including Dummy, U, JARVIS, F.R.I.D.A.Y., Ultron, and E.D.I.T.H.
E.D.I.T.H. is reportedly one of the standout characters, behaving like an overly energetic teenager, while Ultron brings a particularly sassy personality to the group.
Vision insists that the AIs maintain human forms, as he is trying to understand how to fit back into human society.
His house is filled with computer-related jokes and puns, reflecting the unusual dynamic between Vision and the various AI personalities.
Vision feels that Wanda was once his guide to understanding human behavior, but now that she is gone, he has no one to help him navigate social interactions.
Vision spends much of his time analyzing his past interactions, trying to understand what he did wrong and how he can improve his behavior around other people.
He also repeatedly watches his own memories but refuses to revisit the events of WandaVision, becoming extremely angry whenever the subject is brought up.
Vision’s mental environment is described as increasingly unstable, reflecting his emotional state and unresolved grief.
He is not only mourning Wanda but also grieving the person he used to be, feeling that he has become a completely different version of himself.
At the VisionQuest promotional panel, Bettany praised his co-star Emily Hampshire, who plays E.D.I.T.H., describing her as “just delicious as Edith” and “maybe the funniest person I’ve ever met in my life.” He also praised the entire VisionQuest ensemble, saying the production was “blessed with a great cast.”
Bettany said, “Who is just delicious as Edith, and maybe the funniest person I’ve ever met in my life. Just in her bones funny. And, you know, of course we have James, who I first worked with when we were kids, really, back in Master and Commander. Outside of the world. Please get some noise for Master and Commander.”
Bettany added, “And, you, I mean, the entire… we were blessed with a great cast, and everybody seems that… I think when everybody understands what the tone of a show is—and this is a particularly difficult, weird tone to understand—but if you can get that, like everybody understands the tone, then you can fly. And I mean, I think the same people have so much fun on it. Yeah. And the risk of being that nerfed…”
The series is directed by Christopher J. Byrne, Gandja Monteiro, Vincenzo Natali, Terry Matalas, and written by Terry Matalas, Cindy Appel, Christopher Monfette, Nicole Falsetti, and Matthew Okumura.
Here’s the synopsis for VisionQuest:
“When VisionQuest begins, Vision, rebooted and having escaped from those who sought to weaponize him, has been in hiding. Searching for new meaning, he consults the AI personas embedded in his programming, including F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H., J.A.R.V.I.S., and the infamous Ultron. His discreet existence ends when a bounty placed on his head thrusts him on the run with Thomas Shepard, a mysterious boy who may be Vision’s son, reincarnate. As Vision evades capture, he must confront his nature, resist Ultron’s influence, and unravel the enigma that is his young companion if he’s to survive.”
