Warning: This article contains spoilers for Marvel’s VisionQuest.
Marvel Television’s VisionQuest series will reveal what happened to Tommy Maximoff after the events of Agatha All Along, including how Tommy’s soul and consciousness were saved. Tommy will be introduced as an 18-year-old who has recently left the foster care system in London.
The ending of Agatha All Along sets up the return of Tommy Maximoff, as Billy Maximoff discovers that his twin brother’s soul was never automatically reincarnated into a living host like his was. Using his reality-altering magic on the Witches’ Road, Billy places Tommy’s soul into the body of a drowning teenage boy who had become the victim of a cruel pool prank.
Here’s the new description for Tommy Maximoff in VisionQuest:
“At the end of Agatha All Along, Billy, the son of Wanda and Vision, has saved the soul and consciousness of his brother Tommy, and in ‘VisionQuest’ we find out how. The series finds Tommy as an 18-year-old, newly out of the foster care system in London, with flashbacks he can’t explain.”
Ruaridh Mollica Reveals Tommy Maximoff’s Struggle With His Thomas Shepherd Identity

In a recent interview with ScreenRant, Ruaridh Mollica explains that Tommy is more Thomas Shepherd than Tommy Maximoff in VisionQuest. Thomas Shepherd is presented as a young hustler who grew up as an orphan in London.
The Tommy Maximoff identity eventually becomes part of Thomas, but Thomas does not know who he will become for much of his life. Thomas grew up unable to accept his family, making it difficult for him to accept his connection to Tommy Maximoff. When the Tommy Maximoff side of his identity is discovered, he struggles to accept it.
Mollica said, “Tommy is more Thomas Shepherd than Tommy Maximoff. My main essence, I’d say, is Thomas Shepherd, that young hustler who grew up as an orphan in London. Tommy Maximoff then becomes part of Thomas, so for much of Thomas’s life, he wasn’t even aware of who he would end up becoming.
In a way, Tommy grew up unable to accept his family. So, when that Tommy Maximoff side of him is discovered, it’s not easily accepted. And it’s also not something widely accepted by the real world. He really doesn’t know Vision; it’s all an illusion. He’s just some kid who sometimes sees Vision’s face.”
Tommy Maximoff’s Romantic Chemistry With Lisa Molinari

Tommy Maximoff will have a partner-in-crime in the series named Lisa Molinari (Lauren Morais). Tommy and Lisa are both loners and survivors who have been dealt a rough hand in life. “The two lean on one another for support after meeting on a prison bus — and develop some undeniable romantic chemistry.”
Mollica admits that it’s complicated. “Tommy has grown up in a world that knows about Vision and knows about these events and things that have happened,” he says, though he’s by no means an expert. As far as his personal ties and Maximoff roots go, that’s even hazier. “He’s got these certain ‘delusions,’ he sees them as, that are maybe more linked to memories of these kinds of things, but it’s quite ambiguous as to what they are in his mind.” The road to a father-son bond is bound to be rocky. “He’s not had a father figure in so long,” Mollica says, “so he’s guarded. But there’s also a deep yearning for one in there.”
The series is directed by Christopher J. Byrne, Gandja Monteiro, Vincenzo Natali, Terry Matalas, and written by Terry Matalas, Cindy Appel, Christopher Monfette, Nicole Falsetti, and Matthew Okumura.
Here’s the synopsis for VisionQuest:
“When VisionQuest begins, Vision, rebooted and having escaped from those who sought to weaponize him, has been in hiding. Searching for new meaning, he consults the AI personas embedded in his programming, including F.R.I.D.A.Y., E.D.I.T.H., J.A.R.V.I.S., and the infamous Ultron. His discreet existence ends when a bounty placed on his head thrusts him on the run with Thomas Shepard, a mysterious boy who may be Vision’s son, reincarnate. As Vision evades capture, he must confront his nature, resist Ultron’s influence, and unravel the enigma that is his young companion if he’s to survive.”
