The filming of the upcoming Watch Dogs live-action movie, starring Tom Blyth and Sophie Wilde, has wrapped, as confirmed by director Mathieu Turi.
Filming began on July 3 and wrapped on September 13, 2024. The movie — based on the video game franchise published by Ubisoft — is set in the same universe as the games.
On Instagram, Turi posted a story with an image and confirmed, “That’s a Wrap” for the Watch Dogs movie.
Directed by Turi from a screenplay penned by Victoria Bata, based on a story by Christie LeBlanc. Recently, Deadline confirmed that Markella Kavenagh (The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power) has joined the film.
Watch Dogs is produced by New Regency’s Chairman and CEO, Yariv Milchan, and President of Motion Pictures and Television, Natalie Lehmann. Margaret Boykin, Head of Content at Ubisoft Film & Television, also served as a producer.
Watch Dogs is an action-adventure game that debuted in 2014. The game immerses players in the world of skilled hackers who use technology to combat oppressive forces. It is set in near-future versions of cities such as Chicago, San Francisco, and London. The game’s setting revolves around a fictionalized surveillance system known as ctOS (Central Operating System). ctOS controls everything from traffic lights to public transportation and security cameras. Players control the lead character — Aiden Pearce — who can hack into various aspects of the city. Players gather information, complete missions, and evade law enforcement through hacking.
With over 50 million players worldwide, the Watch Dogs franchise expanded with Watch Dogs 2 and Watch Dogs: Legion in 2016 and 2020, respectively. So far, it has also extended its reach — through assorted books and comics.
Watch Dogs will hit theaters in 2025. No distributor has been announced yet.
