Most recently, Marvel Studios announced the famous Mutant franchise X-Men ’97 Season 2, which is set to Premiere in late 2023 on Disney+. Season 2 was greenlit during San Diego Comic-Con International 2022. The show’s first season brought the X-Men into conflict with human conspirators building mutant-exterminating Sentinel robots, Magneto and his attempts to instigate a human-mutant war, and the powerful mutant Apocalypse’s plans to eradicate the weak, both human and mutant alike. Other storylines include X-Men member Morph’s death at the hands of Sentinels, the Beast’s incarceration, and an assassination attempt on US senator Kelly by Apocalypse’s minions to turn human sentiment against the mutants.
Which X-Men Characters Are In The X-Men ’97 Show?
X-Men ’97 features Cyclops, Wolverine, Rogue, Storm, Beast, Gambit, Jubilee, Jean Grey, Professor X, and an original character, Morph (an adaptation of a previous X-Men member).
According to Variety, The “X-Men ’97” team explained that episodes were beginning to ship, so they showed the Comic-Con crowd an animatic in which the X-Men fight Trask and multiple Sentinels. The X-Men team up to take the robots down, as Wolverine slices a Sentinel in the face, and Beast rips out the circuitry to take control of another. Disney+ is rearranging the episode order as it’s intended to be watched. For example, Jean Grey’s Dark Phoenix Saga was out of order in the original run, which Disney+ will rectify.
