Warning: This post contains potential spoilers for the upcoming X-Men reboot.
Marvel Studios’ X-Men reboot is now in pre-production, and the entire cast has reportedly been finalized, with a few more actors expected to be announced soon. Before the X-Men movie, a few mutant characters will appear in Avengers: Secret Wars.
According to scooper James Mack, who shared details about the X-Men movie’s script, several mutants will appear through the Xavier Institute. However, the X-Men team will consist of the five original members—Cyclops, Jean Grey, Beast, Iceman, and Angel—with Rogue as an additional member. Iceman will be the first mutant Jean Grey meets when she arrives at the X-Mansion.

Storm will have an important role, but she won’t be part of the initial team. Rogue will get involved in some problems and leave the mansion, while Storm and Kitty Pryde will help the team later.
Although Mr. Sinister will appear as a villain, he won’t be the main one. The main villains will be a group.
Here’s the updated rumored cast for the X-Men movie:
- Sadie Sink as Jean Grey
- Kit Connor as Scott Summers
- Samara Weaving as Emma Frost
- Christopher Abbott as Professor X
- Maya Boyd as Storm
- Inde Navarrette as Rogue
- Adam Driver as Mister Sinister
- Asa Germann as Angel
- Ben Wang as Iceman (in talks)
- Peter Claffey as Beast (rumored)
There are several actors in talks to join the MCU’s X-Men franchise. Drew Starkey is rumored to play Gambit, with negotiations reportedly finalized. Hunter Schafer is rumored to be in talks for Mystique, while TheInSneider reported that Jeremy Allen White has met with Marvel to discuss playing Wolverine.
According to Alex Perez, X-Men will feature Scott Summers and Jean Grey in a main romantic relationship, which will be an important part of the story. Perez said, “No. The romantic dynamic we’ll see will be the one between Scott and Jean.” He also teased a different direction for Jean Grey, adding, “And from what I’ve heard about what they’re going to do with Jean’s character, I think it will make a lot of people happy, especially those who want her to have a story that doesn’t revolve around the Phoenix Force.”
Directed by Jake Schreier and written by Lee Sung Jin and Joanna Calo, the X-Men movie will focus on “the school, prejudice, and the interpersonal friction between a younger generation of mutants finding their identity in a world that fears them,” rather than jumping straight into world-ending threats.
The X-Men movie will hit theaters on May 5, 2028.
