Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon Part 1 and 2 filming is set to wrap in November 2022. Part 1 is scheduled to be released in 2023. It was previously announced that Rebel Moon Part 1 and 2 would be shot back-to-back. The film will premiere on Netflix with a limited theatrical release.
What Is the Plot of Rebel Moon?
Rebel Moon is a space opera film, by the visionary director Zack Snyder, who is known for the films (Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Justice League). The film is based on a story he also created with Johnstad. it follows, “A peaceful colony on the edge of the galaxy is threatened by the armies of a tyrannical regent named Balisarius. The desperate civilians dispatch a young woman who has a mysterious past to seek out warriors from nearby planets to help them challenge the regent.”
The film stars Sofia Boutella as Kora, Charlie Hunnam, Ray Fisher as Blood Axe, Djimon Hounsou as General Titus, Anthony Hopkins, Anthony Hopkins, Jena Malone, Ed Skrein as Balisarius, Cary Elwes, Corey Stoll, Cleopatra Coleman, Fra Fee, Stuart Martin, Michiel Huisman, Doona Bae, Staz Nair, and Alfonso Herrera.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Charlie Hunnam told his back got severely damaged while shooting the film “I just finished doing the Zack Snyder film and got injured again. I have a totally exploded S1 and S2 that are torn wide open, a hundred percent dehydrated,” Hunnam told the trade. “It’s going to take two years to heal and I have a 40 percent tear on the ligament on the right side that holds my spinal column in place.”
“This is me growing up as an Akira Kurosawa fan, a Star Wars fan,” Snyder previously told The Hollywood Reporter. “It’s my love of sci-fi and a giant adventure. My hope is that this also becomes a massive IP and a universe that can be built out.”
