Zack Snyder’s ‘The Last Photograph’ Sets World Premiere at 2026 Toronto International Film Festival

Zack Snyder’s The Last Photograph, starring Stuart Martin and Fra Fee, is confirmed for its world premiere at the 2026 Toronto International Film Festival.

According to TIFF’s official website, the premiere will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, September 13, at the John Bassett Theatre, TIFF’s new screening venue at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.

Following the announcement, Snyder shared the official TIFF poster for The Last Photograph on Instagram and confirmed that general ticket sales begin at 9 a.m. PT today.

The film follows retired DEA agent Ethan Black (Martin), who travels to South America in search of his missing nephew and niece and to avenge the slaying of his brother, a diplomat, and sister-in-law. He is joined by Joe Wallace (Fee), a world-weary, drug-addicted conflict photographer who claims to have witnessed the kidnapping and brutal murder. As the pair journey deeper into a hostile, alpine landscape, unresolved events from Ethan’s troubled past burgeon in his psyche—and muddy his motivations for taking on this precarious mission.

Zack Snyder directs The Last Photograph from a screenplay by Kurt Johnstad, based on a story by Snyder. The film is produced by Snyder, Deborah Snyder, Wesley Coller, and Gianni Nunnari.

Snyder is best known for his work in the DC cinematic universe, directing Man of Steel, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Justice League, with his four-hour cut of the latter becoming known as the “Snyder Cut.” His other notable films include Dawn of the Dead, 300, and Watchmen. More recently, Snyder directed Netflix films including Army of the Dead and Rebel Moon – Part One: A Child of Fire, along with its sequel, Rebel Moon – Part Two: The Scargiver. He is also developing an Escape from New York remake with The Picture Company and StudioCanal.
