Marvel Fully Supports R-Rated ‘Deadpool 3’ According to Screenwriters Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick
According to screenwriters Reese and Wernick, Marvel is very supportive of keeping Deadpool 3 R-rated. “It’s a thrill,” Reese said. “It’s an absolute thrill to have the band back together, to have a new backdrop in the MCU with new characters, new villains, that kind of thing. You know, it’s never a marriage we necessarily saw coming—Fox and Disney—that was an external thing [separate] from our storytelling process. But we’re absolutely finding the serendipity and the gold in that situation, or we’re trying to.”
Beetz will star in ‘Joker: Folie à Deux,’ the sequel to 2019’s Joker. She will reprise her role as Sophie Dumond, appearing alongside Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga. Directed by Todd Phillips and written by Phillips and Scott Silver, the film will be released by Warner Bros. Pictures on October 4, 2024. Beetz about acting with Lady Gaga on ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’: “She has such a huge persona on stage, and in how she presents herself to the world, but on set, she just felt like a regular person. When we were filming, she wasn’t the character of Gaga, but instead, she was Stefani.”
Deadpool 3 hits theaters on May 3, 2024.
