It’s hard to envision a year in television entertainment that could exceed the incredible episodes we received in 2022. However, as much as we anticipate the return of our favorite series since its season finale aired, we have just as much coming our way.
Mrs. Davis will debut in the first few months of 2023, and we also have new seasons of Loki and Riverdale on the way. This list may change as more titles and launch dates are published, but for now, these are the series we are eagerly looking forward to watching in 2023.
1. Dead Ringers
The gender-swapped modification of David Cronenberg’s, The Fly by Alice Birch and actress Rachel Weisz follows the lives of Beverly Mantle and Elliot, who are identical twins as well as practicing gynecologists with radically different perspectives on sex, independence, morality, and life.
The six-part limited series will fairly faithfully recount the original film’s plot. Still, in a modern world, the boundaries between the probable and morality are starting to blur due to scientific and technological advancements. In addition, there will be blood, plenty of it.
2. Mrs. Davis
Peacock has commissioned a new science fiction series from Damon Lindelof to mark his television comeback. Mrs. Davis is jointly developed with Young Sheldon and The Big Bang Theory executive producer and writer Tara Hernandez. The story is set in a world that harmless artificial intelligence has seized.
The show stars Betty Gilpin, who plays Sister Simone of Reno, a jaded nun who embarks on a “quest” at Mrs. Davis’s request to find the mythical “Holy Grail.”
Mrs. Davis’s basis seems to also grasp the dangers that might befall humanity when compassion and generosity are programmed down into a gamified framework for purely transactional interactions, in addition to the obvious central idea of “faith versus technology” related to the show. Possibly one of the craziest and most out-there science fiction shows of the year.
3. Secret Invasion
A story of aliens among humanity will be told in Marvel’s Secret Invasion. The Skrulls, who can assume any form in order to undermine the world’s defenders before they ever suspect anything is wrong, are not heroes in the traditional sense. Secret Invasion has been marketed as a gigantic event and has all the makings of Marvel’s most successful TV series to date.
With an ensemble that includes Samuel L. Jackson, Olivia Colman, Ben Mendelsohn, and Kingsley Ben-Adir, this upcoming series is expected to be an interesting experiment within the somewhat outdated equation of Marvel’s TV efforts, though that is by no means a guarantee of quality.
4. Fatal Attraction
Kevin J. Hynes and Alexandra Cunningham are the creative minds behind the upcoming sexual psychological thriller series Fatal Attraction, which will air in the United States. It is an adaptation of James Dearden’s screenplay for the film of the identical name, which was released in 1987.
This reworking of the film from 1987 examines marriage and adultery through the prism of contemporary ideas toward strong women, coercive control, and personality disorders. Beth and Dan Gallagher’s lives are put in danger when Beth discovers that her husband has been having an affair with another woman.
5. Riverdale Season 7
Riverdale has spent the past six years investigating topics such as serial killers, organ-harvesting cults, daddy issues, aliens, the challenges of football in high school, and the abrupt invasion of the supernatural.
The show’s final season will take place in a period never explored before, which is the 1950s. The final season of Riverdale will revert to Archie Comics’ roots by placing Archie and the rest of the crew back at Riverdale High.
6. Tiny Beautiful Things
You can never have too much of Kathryn Hahn in your life. Hahn’s next roles include the lead in Agatha: Coven of Chaos and Tiny Beautiful Things, premiering on Hulu in 2019. The drama is centered on the memoir of the same name by advice writer Cheryl Strayed.
Clare (Hahn), a writer whose marriage is on the rocks and whose connection with her adolescent granddaughter is tense, is thrust into the role of a life coach when she is given the possibility of a column.
Merritt Wever and Quentin Plair star alongside each other in the program, and guest actors like Reese Witherspoon and Laura Dern appear.
7. Loki Season 2
When we last left the God of Lies, Loki had been deep in thought about certain time-travel antics that would lead to the release of Kang the Conqueror.
After Kang’s villainous role in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania concludes this year, Loki Laufeyson will make his Disney Plus debut. Keeping up with the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s storylines? Try keeping up with the entire multiverse.
Conclusion
Anyone you ask will confirm that today’s television landscape is a lot to take in. New series, returning shows, and shows we constantly intend to catch up on are piling alongside last year’s top films.
Despite the fact that nobody will ever grant us more time, you may still set yourself up for success in 2023 by staying somewhat updated with the discussed new releases.
