Jada Pinkett Smith revealed that Chris Rock once asked her out, assuming she and Will Smith were getting divorced due to rumors. She clarified they weren’t, and he apologized.
In an interview with People, Jada said that Chris asked her out during a summer when divorce rumors circulated about her and Will.
She said, “He called me, and basically he was like, ‘I’d love to take you out.’ And I was like, ‘What do you mean?’ He was like, ‘Well, aren’t you and Will getting a divorce?’ I was like, ‘No. Chris, those are just rumors.’ He was appalled. And he profusely apologized, and that was that.”

Jada also mentioned that she hasn’t spoken to Chris since the Oscars incident on March 27, 2022, when her husband, Will Smith, confronted him over a joke about Jada. She hopes for the misunderstandings to be cleared up and for there to be peace.
“Do I have any desire to talk to Chris? Here’s my desire: I just hope that all the misunderstandings around this can be cleared up and that there can be peace.”
“From where I was sitting, I couldn’t tell. It didn’t look like Will hit Chris because, number one, I’d seen Will in the boxing ring with pro fighters—Will’s a heavy-hitter. So when Chris moved, it looked like he ducked or he missed the shot. And when he continued to stand, and then when he continued to walk down to the end of the stage, I was like, ‘There’s no way. There’s no way that Will hit him.’ ”

Jada and Will have been living apart for seven years. Jada made a promise that they wouldn’t get divorced, and they continued to work through their challenges while living separately.
“I think by the time we got to 2016, we were just exhausted with trying.” “I made a promise that there will never be a reason for us to get a divorce,” Jada added. “We will work through whatever. And I just haven’t been able to break that promise… We live separately.”
