Marvel Studios has reportedly discussed the role of Doctor Doom in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) with Mads Mikkelsen.
According to Jeff Sneider via The Hot Mic, Marvel Studios has discussed the role of Doctor Doom with Mikkelsen. Known for his previous Marvel role as Kaecilius in Doctor Strange, Mikkelsen’s potential involvement has sparked interest. In Doctor Strange, his character gains immortality by tapping into the power of the Dark Dimension from Dormammu.
Will Doctor Doom appear in the new ‘Fantastic Four’ film?
Previously, Doctor Doom was rumored for a post-credits appearance in ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever‘ and is set to be part of the ‘Ironheart‘ Disney+ series. There’s a possibility of Doctor Doom appearing in the upcoming ‘Fantastic Four‘ reboot directed by Matt Shakman. Casting is in full swing, with Pedro Pascal signed to play Reed Richards, also known as Mr. Fantastic. The working title for the film is reportedly ‘Blue Moon.’ Shakman is currently in pre-production on ‘Fantastic Four’ at Pinewood Studios in England. ‘Fantastic Four’ will hit theaters on May 2, 2025.
According to Marvel President Kevin Feige, the Fantastic Four film will not have an origin story. He said (via THR), “A lot of people know this origin story. A lot of people know the basics. How do we take that and bring something that they’ve never seen before?” Feige added, “We’ve set a very high bar for ourselves with bringing that to the screen.”
Is Marvel still committed to the Kang storyline?
According to reports, Marvel remains committed to the Kang storyline, and it is uncertain whether the character will be recast. In the upcoming ‘Avengers‘ films, “The Kang Dynasty” and “Secret Wars,” Doctor Doom is expected to play a major role as a secondary villain.
‘Avengers: The Kang Dynasty’ is set to hit theaters on May 1, 2026, while ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ is scheduled for release on May 7, 2027.
