Sony’s Kraven the Hunter is expected to earn the lowest figure for a domestic box office opening weekend.
The film is expected to earn $20M-$25M during its domestic opening weekend, with a $110M budget. In comparison, Morbius earned $39M.
Probably, Kraven the Hunter will be the last movie in Sony’s Spider-Man universe spin-off movies. The film does not have any post-credits. Recently, director J.C. Chandor said that he wants to complete Kraven’s story with Kraven’s Last Hunt. Hopefully, it happens if the film is successful in the theaters.
Chandor said, “You’re rooting for him. The rule I set for myself is by the final frame of our movie, you had to believe that character could live in a world where Kraven’s Last Hunt is a real thing. But in this part of the journey, he’s not there yet.”
Here’s the plot details for Kraven the Hunter:
In Kraven the Hunter, Kraven (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) is recruited by Calypso (Ariana DeBose) to stop a corrupt magnate named Gregory Herd (Alessandro Nivola) from doing something bad called the Gathering of the Five. Herd hires two people, the Foreigner and the Chameleon (Fred Hechinger), to stop Kraven. Later, Kraven finds out that the Chameleon is his brother, and their father, Nikolai Kravinoff (Russell Crowe), is the real villain and Herd’s boss. Calypso also works for Nikolai and tricks Kraven so that Nikolai can sacrifice him. But then Calypso falls in love with Kraven and helps him fight Nikolai.
Produced by Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, and David Householter, with production companies including Columbia Pictures, Marvel Entertainment, TSG Entertainment, and Arad Productions.
Kraven the Hunter will hit theaters on December 13, 2024.
