Blind Logic – The Ralph R. Teetor Story Celebrates “World Braille Day”

Blind Logic Productions celebrates World Braille Day in honor of Louis Braille, the creator of the code, born on this day in 1809.

We join the National Federation of the Blind (NFB) in recognizing this significant achievement. Developed in 1824 by a French boy named Louis Braille, this code enables blind people to read using their fingertips. Today, Braille is used worldwide in multiple languages. Each year, the NFB strives to make Braille accessible to more blind individuals.

Using a system of six raised dots, Braille is as versatile as print, can be learned in roughly the same amount of time, and offers the same fluency in reading.

The National Federation of the Blind (NFB), a transformative organization of blind Americans, advances the lives of its members and all blind people across the United States. The NFB provides resources to support blind individuals through every stage of their Braille journey, as the code empowers them with independence, confidence, and flexibility in their daily lives.

Blind Logic Productions hopes their award-winning documentary, Blind Logic: The Ralph R. Teetor Story, raises greater awareness about blindness and showcases what individuals can achieve through courage, concentration, and determination. The film tells the inspiring story of Ralph Teetor, an American blind visionary who overcame extraordinary odds to become an automotive pioneer and a leader in his industry. As Teetor famously said in 1945, “I am not handicapped because I never considered myself so.”

The Blind Logic Productions website features a “Living with Blindness” page offering links to resources for blind individuals: Living With Blindness. Additionally, the site includes a page detailing how Ralph Teetor overcame adversity despite his blindness: How Ralph R. Teetor Overcame Adversity Despite Being Blind.

Emmy Award winners Jeff Daniels and Mike Rowe bring this remarkable story to life alongside other talented voice actors, including Emmy-nominated Barry Corbin. The award-winning creative team includes Editor Derek Tow, Composer Jim Andron, Photo Editor Daniel Teetor, and Sound Editors Darren King, Nikola Simikic, and Amanda Roy. Written, directed, and produced by Jack Teetor, the documentary is based on the book One Man’s Vision: The Life of Automotive Pioneer Ralph R. Teetor, written by the late Marjorie Teetor Meyer.
