Brendan Fraser is preparing and doing physical training to return as Rick O’Connell for The Mummy 4. He confirmed that the film is finally going back to what fans actually love about the franchise.
On The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Fraser joked about getting his “57-year-old gear in shape” for filming, and he asked fans to “please wish me luck” ahead of production.
Fraser told Fallon, “We’re gonna get the band back together.” He added, “The only way to do it. So, we are going to give the audience what they have been bothering all of us for, for the last twenty-whatever years.”
“I was hopeful for a long time, and then I started thinking maybe it wouldn’t happen,” Fraser said about returning to The Mummy. “But listen, what we’re gonna do is saddle back up, go back to the locations — I should probably stop talking like this, because I don’t want to give everything away.”

While talking about his Mummy 4 training, Fraser playfully said he’s trying to get back into shape and asked fans to “please wish me luck.”
The Mummy 4 will be Fraser’s first return to action movies in a long time. After earning an Oscar for The Whale, he also featured in Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon and the drama The Rental Family.
In the film, Fraser returns as Rick O’Connell, alongside Rachel Weisz as Evelyn Carnahan and John Hannah as Jonathan Carnahan.
“Rick and Evelyn O’Connell return for a new globe-trotting adventure to face a rising ancient evil, returning the franchise to its blend of action, humor, and supernatural horror.”
The Mummy 4 will be directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett (Ready or Not, Scream VI) from a screenplay by David Coggeshall. The film will serve as a sequel to The Mummy film series, the original 1990s action-adventure horror franchise, and is described as a continuation that disregards the events of the third film. Filming is scheduled to begin in August 2026.
Sean Daniel returns as producer alongside William Sherak, James Vanderbilt, and Paul Neinstein of Project X Entertainment.
The Mummy 4 is set to hit theaters on October 15, 2027.
