Marvel’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day director Destin Daniel Cretton has shared a new behind-the-scenes look at the film’s villains.
On Instagram, Cretton celebrated the work of costume designer Sanja Milkovic Hays by sharing images of both Boomerang and the leader of the Hand.

Boomerang has remained mostly hidden in the marketing for Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Some fans believe this is because the character is secretly MJ’s new boyfriend, played by Eman Esfandi. Still, the latest behind-the-scenes image suggests that someone else may be wearing the costume.

Cretton wrote, “As we get closer to the release of @spidermanmovie, I’d love to introduce you all to some of the many talented artists and storytellers who poured over every detail of every frame to get this movie ready for you.”
Cretton added, “It’s always good to remember that this movie was made by thousands of passionate artists who have their human fingerprints across everything you will see.”
“First up is our costume designer, Sanja Milkovic Hays. Sanja has created the costumes for some incredible movies like Thunderbolts, Captain Marvel, Spider-Man: No Way Home, Star Trek Beyond, The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift, and Blade.”
“Sanja and her team were a joy to work with,” Cretton concluded. “I can’t wait for you all to see their beautiful art on the big screen.”
Most recently, an image of Peter Parker’s Villains Tracker Board was revealed. It features a corkboard with a map of New York City, red string connecting various clues, and newspaper clippings about Tombstone, Tarantula, Boomerang, and Scorpion. See it below.

Here’s the new synopsis for Spider-Man: Brand New Day:
After the record-breaking global success of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Spider-Man: Brand New Day marks an entirely new chapter for Peter Parker and Spider-Man.
Four years have passed since the events of No Way Home, and Peter is now an adult living entirely alone, having voluntarily erased himself from the lives and memories of those he loves. Crime-fighting in a New York that no longer knows his name, he’s devoted himself entirely to protecting his city — a full-time Spider-Man — but as the demands on him intensify, the pressure sparks a surprising physical evolution that threatens his existence, even as a strange new pattern of crimes gives rise to one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a screenplay by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. The film stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, with Zendaya and Jacob Batalon reprising their roles as MJ Watson and Ned Leeds. Sadie Sink joins the cast alongside Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle (a.k.a. The Punisher) and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/The Hulk. Liza Colón-Zayas and Tramell Tillman have also been cast in undisclosed roles, while Michael Mando returns as Mac Gargan from Spider-Man: Homecoming and Marvin Jones III as Tombstone. Additionally, Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova will appear in the movie.
The film is produced by Amy Pascal, Rachel O’Connor, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, and Mitch Bell.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled to hit theaters and IMAX on July 31, 2026.
