The first look at Zack Snyder’s ‘Rebel Moon‘ starring Doona Bae, Ray Fisher, Michiel Huisman, Sofia Boutella, Charlie Hunnam, E. Duffy, Djimon Hounsou, and Ed Skrein, has been revealed by Vanity Fair. See the images below.
‘Rebel Moon’ is described as a space opera but with a more intimate and grounded approach to the sci-fi elements. The film will be released on Netflix as a two-part film saga, with the first part debuting on December 22. The estimated budget for the film is $166 million. Also, there are plans to release a more explicit and harder-edged cut of the film at a later date, which will be intended for adults.
The story is set on the moon of Veldt, which is targeted by the ruling government, known as the Mother World, for its resources. The main character, Kora, who was once part of the oppressive government, rallies the villagers of Veldt to resist the Mother World’s control. Kora sets out with a pilot named Kai and a farmer named Gunnar to find fighters from other subjugated worlds and build a resistance against the Mother World. They encounter various characters, including General Titus, a former defender of the Mother World turned enemy, and Tarak, a barbarian-inspired warrior with a bond to a flying creature.
Snyder initially wrote the script as a single movie, but due to its length, Netflix suggested splitting it into two parts. Also Rebel Moon RPG Game is in the works.
The film stars Sofia Boutella as Kora, Djimon Hounsou as General Titus, Ed Skrein as Balisarius, Michiel Huisman, Doona Bae, Ray Fisher as Blood Axe, Staz Nair, Charlie Hunnam, Anthony Hopkins as Jimmy (voice role), Jena Malone, Stuart Martin, Corey Stoll, Cary Elwes, Alfonso Herrera, Cleopatra Coleman, Fra Fee, Rhian Rees, and Ray Porter.
Rebel Moon is scheduled to be released on December 22, 2023, on Netflix.
