Amy Adams (‘Man of Steel’) is set to star in ‘At the Sea,’ directed by Kornel Mundruczó and written by Kata Wéber. Filming will begin in Boston in June 2024.
What is ‘At the Sea’ About?
In ‘At the Sea,’ the story follows Laura (Adams) after a long rehabilitation as she returns to her family at their beach holiday home, where she has to readjust to the complicated life she left behind. Now she is forced to face the next chapter of her life without the career that gave her fame, fortune, and, most importantly, identity.
Produced by Alexander Rodnyansky (‘Loveless’ and ‘Leviathan’) of AR Content, Stuart Manashil (‘Irma Vep’ and ‘Pieces of a Woman’), Aaron Ryder, and Andrew Swett (‘Dumb Money’ and ‘Arrival’) for Ryder Picture Company, Hammerstone Studios’ Alex Lebovici (‘Barbarian’ and ‘Boy Kills World’) and Jon Oakes (‘The Guilty’ and ‘Drive’), and Viktória Petrányi (‘Midsommar’ and ‘Pieces of a Woman’) and Mundruczó. Executive producers include Paul J. Diaz and Maria Breese of 3:33 Creative, Lee Broda of LB Entertainment, Jeff Rice of Jeff Rice Films, and Michael Kupisk. Zsofi Oblath and Rachel Rubin (‘Dumb Money’ and ‘Bruiser’) will co-produce.
The film is financed by AR Content, Paul J. Diaz, and Hammerstone Studios. Domestic rights will be represented by WME Independent, while international distribution will be handled by Capstone Pictures. Sacker Law will oversee production legal matters.
Mundruczó and Wéber, a married director-writer pair from Hungary, are best known for their 2020 drama ‘Pieces of a Woman.’ Prior to that, they collaborated on ‘White God,’ ‘Jupiter’s Moon,’ and ‘Evolution.’ Mundruczó also directed the pilot of ‘The Crowded Room’ series.
Adams recently finished filming ‘Klara and the Sun’ and will soon appear in ‘Nightbitch,’ a film she also produced through her company, Bond Group Entertainment.
