Dante’s family invites Ari on a camping trip, and they bond under the night sky. Dante reveals his family is moving to Chicago, and Ari saves him from a car accident. Over the year, Ari adapts to school, explores his sexuality, and learns about his brother’s imprisonment. The Quintanas return and Dante’s hospitalization sparks Ari’s realization of his feelings. They share a moment in the desert, confessing their love.
