The first trailer for Mortal Kombat 2 reveals Sub-Zero’s resurrection as Noob Saibot—a shadowy figure returning from the Netherrealm to seek revenge after being defeated by Cole Young (Lewis Tan) and Hanzo Hasashi/Scorpion (Hiroyuki Sanada) at the end of 2021’s Mortal Kombat.
A new look at Joe Taslim as Noob Saibot (Bi-Han) from Mortal Kombat 2 has been revealed by Collider. The image shows Noob’s classic black costume, glowing empty eyes, and armor inspired by the original video game design. See it below.

Noob Saibot debuted in Mortal Kombat II (1993) as a secret character. His name is a reversal of the creators’ names, Ed Boon and John Tobias. Initially a black palette swap of Sub-Zero and Scorpion, he later evolved into a fully unique character. Noob retains his Lin Kuei roots while embracing a twisted, shadow-powered form following his rebirth in the Netherrealm. He can animate his shadow into a clone during combat — a defining gameplay ability translated into the film.
In a recent interview with Collider, director Simon McQuoid said, This version of Bi-Han is a fan-favorite and mysterious character who demands a costume design that captures the game’s aesthetics while maintaining the realism of the films. Simply put, he looks awesome because of genius costume designer Cappi Ireland and her amazing team.”

The final film design was heavily influenced by Mortal Kombat 1’s Khaos Reigns DLC, where Noob Saibot was introduced with a mix of reflective armor and traditional Lin Kuei ninja elements. The goal was to maintain Bi-Han’s identity as a being of shadow while using cinematic materials and techniques for visual impact. The armor featured an organic style with a dark grey pearlescent reflective finish to simulate light play while retaining a ghostly feel.
McQuoid said, “To translate his distinctive ‘shadow wraith’ look onto film, we drew most of our inspiration from the recent version of the game. Cappi had the brilliant idea of creating unique materials and finishes that would reflect the light while always being true to Bi-Han’s singular idea of being a shadow. His body was made of low-gloss, textured black rubber under-skin, while his armour was organic in style and featured a dark grey pearlescent reflective finish.” He added, “The shadow clone within him is a different character, so we needed a different costume and color, but they shared materials, ensuring his unique look was clearly separated from his shadow clone while always being born from the same character.”
Recently, Todd Garner, the producer of the Mortal Kombat movies, revealed that there are plans for deeper development of main characters—Scorpion, Bi-Han (who returns as Noob Saibot), and Kano—with future films and spinoffs possible if Mortal Kombat 2 performs well at the box office.
