Christopher Nolan’s ‘Interstellar‘ is confirmed to get a re-release this year to celebrate its 10th anniversary. The film, which was originally planned for a September 27 release, will now open on December 6. It will be shown in IMAX 70MM and digital formats.
Recently, rumors circulated that the 70mm IMAX prints of ‘Interstellar’ had been destroyed. However, Paramount has claimed that they have archived more copies of the movie than most other films.
In Earth’s future, a global crop blight and a second Dust Bowl are slowly rendering the planet uninhabitable. Professor Brand (Michael Caine), a brilliant NASA physicist, is working on plans to save mankind by transporting Earth’s population to a new home via a wormhole. But first, Brand must send former NASA pilot Cooper (Matthew McConaughey) and a team of researchers through the wormhole and across the galaxy to find out which of three planets could be mankind’s new home.
The film also stars Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, Bill Irwin, Ellen Burstyn, Timothée Chalamet, and Matt Damon.
‘Interstellar’ was released on November 5, 2014. The film has grossed $705 million through subsequent re-releases and was nominated for five awards at the 87th Academy Awards, winning Best Visual Effects. It has also received numerous other accolades.
