The film is set to begin production this summer in the U.K. Hollywood has attempted to bring Sgt. Rock to the screen for years, with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis previously shown interest.

Sgt. Rock is based on the character Sgt. Franklin John Rock, created by Robert Kanigher and Joe Kubert. He first appeared in Our Army at War in 1959 as a World War II infantry soldier.
The character became more popular in 1977 when he got his own comic series, which ran until July 1988.
Sgt. Rock is a skilled fighter—he can shoot down enemy planes with a submachine gun, throw grenades with great accuracy, and fight well even without weapons. He is tough enough to survive gunshots and stays calm under pressure. He also has a special ability called a “Combat Antenna,” which helps him sense enemy attacks before they happen.
Sgt. Rock joins DC Studios’ major projects as part of the Gods and Monsters era.
The release date for Sgt. Rock is yet to be announced.
