DC’s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow has officially begun filming.
The first shot was taken at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden in the United Kingdom, which has been the filming location for many major productions, including the Harry Potter series, The Batman, Barbie, and Wonder Woman.
In the film, Milly Alcock star as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl, Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hills, Eve Ridley as Ruthye, Jason Momoa as Lobo, with more cast members to be announced once production begins.
Directed by Craig Gillespie from a screenplay by Ana Nogueira, based on the comic by Tom King and Bilquis Evely, it will be the second film in the DC Universe and the fourth installment of Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.
During the announcement of Chapter 1: Gods and Monsters in 2023, Gunn described the character as a “much more hardcore” version of the F-bomb-dropping Supergirl. Gunn added, “We see the difference between Superman, who was sent to Earth and raised by loving parents from the time he’s an infant, versus Supergirl, who was raised on a rock chip off of Krypton and watched everyone around her die and be killed in terrible ways for the first 14 years of her life.”
Here’s the plot details for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow:
“Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow follows Kara Zor-El’s story and her darker origin before she finally made her way to Earth.”
James Gunn and Peter Safran are producing the film, with DC EVP Chantal Nong serving as the executive producer.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will fly into theaters on June 26, 2026.
