Filming for DC’s Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow has begun, and DC Studios boss James Gunn has shared the first behind-the-scenes look at Milly Alcock on set.
In the image, Alcock is seen sitting at a bar, which appears to be the opening scene of the film, inspired by the initial bar scene from Tom King’s comic book.
On X (formerly Twitter), Gunn wrote, “Thrilled to see cameras roll at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden on Supergirl, with Craig Gillespie at the helm and the phenomenal Milly Alcock as our Kara Zor-El. Craig brings an incredible sensibility to this story, and Milly is every inch the unique Supergirl envisioned by Tom King, Bilquis Evely & Ana Nogueira.”
Directed by Gillespie, from a screenplay by Ana Nogueira and based on the comic by Tom King and Bilquis Evely, the film will serve as the second entry in the DC Universe and the fourth installment of Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.
In the film, Alcock star as Kara Zor-El/Supergirl, Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hills, Eve Ridley as Ruthye, Jason Momoa as Lobo, David Krumholtz as Zor-El, and Emily Beecham as Alura In-Ze.
Here’s the plot details for Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow:
Tom King and Bilquis Evely’s 2021 Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow comic book mini-series follows Kara Zor-El as she goes on a space adventure to help a young alien girl, Ruthye, get revenge on the warlord Krem, who killed her father.
Gunn and Peter Safran are producing the film, with DC EVP Chantal Nong serving as the executive producer.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow flies into theaters on June 26, 2026.
