Dragon Ball Super returns as Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, an enhanced anime with upgraded visuals, officially set to premiere in Fall 2026.

It’s official: Dragon Ball Super is returning under a new title, Dragon Ball Super: Beerus, announced during Dragon Ball Genkidamatsuri in Japan, and is set to premiere in Fall 2026.

The series is based on the original work, story, and character designs by Akira Toriyama. According to the official website, the project began development several years ago and is described as a newly ENHANCED edition of Dragon Ball Super. Using the latest visual technology, the anime will feature upgraded animation, with battle scenes in particular becoming more immersive and detailed. The franchise’s future also includes Dragon Ball Super: The Galactic Patrol, previously announced during GENKIDASTAGE Part 1. A trailer was released alongside the announcement. Watch it below.

The Dragon Ball Super: Beerus trailer opens with the God of Destruction, Beerus, in a long, deep sleep. Targeted by Beerus, the strongest being in the universe, Earth is in grave danger, forcing Goku and his allies to rise up and protect it. Where will this epic battle between Super Saiyan God Goku and Beerus ultimately lead?

Here’s the official descrption for Dragon Ball Super: Beerus:

“Dragon Ball Super: Beerus is the ENHANCED edition of the TV anime Dragon Ball Super, for which Akira Toriyama created the original work, story, and character designs. The project features extensive new cuts, revisions to existing scenes, a complete re-rendering of all footage, newly recorded dubbing with added score and sound effects, and a full reconstruction of the story. Living up to the name ENHANCED, this edition employs the latest visual expression to deliver greater power and immersion across all scenes, especially the battle sequences. The result is an ENHANCED edition that expresses Akira Toriyama’s original ideas and worldbuilding more accurately and will be broadcast with a highly satisfying level of quality.”
