Robert Eggers’ Werwulf Has Officially Wrapped Filming

Filming for Robert Eggers’ Werwulf, starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Lily-Rose Depp, and Willem Dafoe, has officially wrapped in England following an 82-day shoot. The film is described as a werewolf horror movie set in 13th-century England, with dialogue authentic to the time period.

Following the wrap, Ralph Ineson shared an image from the Werwulf wrap party on X. You can see the image below.

Additionally, images of Aaron Taylor-Johnson and director Robert Eggers at the wrap party can be seen below.

Directed by Eggers, who previously worked on The Witch and Nosferatu. He co-wrote the script with Sjón. Werwulf is described as a gothic horror epic set in 13th-century England with time-period-accurate dialogue. Eggers has said it is the darkest film he has ever written “by far.” The film will reportedly feature period-authentic language and, as expected from Eggers, an obsessive level of historical detail.

During filming in Bourne Wood near Farnham, some set images leaked featuring Dafoe, Ineson, and Taylor-Johnson. Dafoe and Ineson are seen in rugged, medieval-style costumes, riding horses on a muddy set. They wear hooded, weathered clothing, with one of them holding a spear.

Werwulf Cast List:

• Aaron Taylor-Johnson
• Lily-Rose Depp
• Willem Dafoe
• Ralph Ineson
• Jan Bijvoet
• Ritchi Edwards
• Bodhi Rae Breathnach

The film is being shot on 35mm Super 35 in a 1.37:1 Academy ratio, which gives it a classic cinematic texture with natural grain and rich color. The nearly square 1.37:1 frame creates a tight, confined visual style, similar to Eggers’ The Lighthouse, which used an even narrower aspect ratio. Werwulf is expected to have a claustrophobic, atmospheric look that fits Eggers’ signature style.

Produced by Tim Bevan and Eric Fellner of Working Title, alongside Eggers and Sjón, while Maiden Voyage’s Chris and Eleanor Columbus serve as executive producers.

Werwulf will hit theaters in North America on December 25, 2026, by Focus Features.
