Myers shares the screen with newcomer Zain Iqbal, who plays Ravi. The screenplay is penned by Poppy Cogan from Red Rose, while the direction is helmed by Dolly Wells, known for her role in ‘Dracula.’
‘A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder’ is written by the lead writer Cogan, in collaboration with Zia Ahmed, Ajoke Ibironke, and Ruby Thomas, and produced by Florence Walker. The executive producers include Matthew Read, Matthew Bouch, and Frith Tiplady from Moonage Pictures, along with Lucy Richer and Danielle Scott-Haughton representing the BBC. Holly Jackson, Wells, and Cogan are also part of the executive producer team. BBC Studios, which holds a minority investment in Moonage Pictures, will handle the international distribution of the series.
What Is The Plot Of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder’?
Five years ago, schoolgirl Andie Bell was murdered by her boyfriend Sal Singh. Case closed. The police know he did it. Everyone in town knows he did it. But smart and single-minded Pip Fitz-Amobi (Emma Myers) isn’t so sure and she’s determined to prove it. And if Sal Singh isn’t a murderer and the real killer is still out there, how far will they go to keep Pip from the truth?
In a statement, Fiona Campbell, Controller of Youth Audience, BBC iPlayer and BBC Three said, “From the moment we announced that A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder was coming to the BBC I know there’s been a huge amount of speculation from fans about who will play Pip and Ravi.” Campbell added, “In Emma and Zain, we’ve found two actors who embody the characters so perfectly that it will feel as though they’ve stepped straight from the pages of Holly’s books onto our screens. I can’t wait for BBC Three viewers to see them in action.”
Holly Jackson said, “I am so unbelievably excited that Emma is our Pip. She is phenomenal and this role was truly always meant to be hers. And we found our perfect Ravi in Zain. I can’t wait for us all to be able to watch their scenes. I smile every time I see them together, because I know that we’ve pulled off the impossible, and Emma and Zain are the only two people I would trust to bring these characters to life. Everyone’s going to be just as thrilled as I am.”
‘A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder’ is a six-episode television series, with each episode having a duration of 45 minutes, and will air on BBC Three and iPlayer.
