A new BTS video from Marvel’s Spider-Man: Brand New Day reportedly reveals The Hand’s leader, one of the movie’s villains.

A new look at Spider-Man: Brand New Day from ScreenX theaters reveals behind-the-scenes footage of Spider-Man fighting The Hand. It is reported that Brand New Day is being “Shot for ScreenX” at the location and will feature extra exclusive footage on the side screens.

From the BTS footage, it is reportedly revealed that the leader of The Hand is Mariko Yashida. The character is the daughter of Japanese crime boss Lord Shingen and the half-sister of Silver Samurai.

Mariko Yashida previously appeared in The Wolverine (2013).
Who is Mariko Yashida?
In Marvel Comics, Wolverine falls in love with Mariko Yashida during his time in Japan. However, their relationship faces strong opposition from her father and the Japanese mafia. Mariko is later poisoned, forcing Logan to end her suffering himself in one of the character’s most tragic storylines.
In a recent interview, Tom Holland said Spider-Man: Brand New Day features some of the best action sequences in the franchise.
“Some of the best action we’ve had in any of these movies.”
Here’s the synopsis for Spider-Man: Brand New Day:
After the record-breaking global success of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Spider-Man: Brand New Day marks an entirely new chapter for Peter Parker and Spider-Man.
Four years have passed since the events of No Way Home, and Peter is now an adult living entirely alone, having voluntarily erased himself from the lives and memories of those he loves. Crime-fighting in a New York that no longer knows his name, he’s devoted himself entirely to protecting his city — a full-time Spider-Man — but as the demands on him intensify, the pressure sparks a surprising physical evolution that threatens his existence, even as a strange new pattern of crimes gives rise to one of the most powerful threats he has ever faced.
Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton from a screenplay by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. The film stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker/Spider-Man, with Zendaya and Jacob Batalon reprising their roles as MJ Watson and Ned Leeds. Sadie Sink joins the cast alongside Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle (a.k.a. The Punisher) and Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/The Hulk. Liza Colón-Zayas and Tramell Tillman have also been cast in undisclosed roles, while Michael Mando returns as Mac Gargan from Spider-Man: Homecoming and Marvin Jones III has been confirmed to play the role of Tombstone. Additionally, Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova will appear in the movie.
The film is produced by Amy Pascal, Rachel O’Connor, Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, and Mitch Bell.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is scheduled to hit theaters and IMAX on July 31, 2026. The film is also confirmed to release in China, with the date to be confirmed soon.
