According to the synopsis, the live-action adaptation of the video game franchise The Legend of Zelda follows Link, a young warrior destined to protect the magical kingdom of Hyrule from the forces of darkness. The land is under threat from Ganon, a ruthless warlord seeking the Triforce—an ancient relic said to grant limitless power. To stop him, Link must embark on a perilous journey, battling monstrous creatures, exploring treacherous dungeons, and solving intricate puzzles to uncover sacred artifacts that can aid him in his quest.

The original fantasy The Legend of Zelda series was co-created by Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka in 1986. It follows the adventures of Link and Princess Zelda as they battle to save Hyrule from the evil warlord Ganon. The franchise has since grown to include more than 20 mainline entries and spin-offs, including 2024’s The Legend of Zelda: Echoes of Wisdom.

Produced by Shigeru Miyamoto, representative director and fellow of Nintendo, and Avi Arad, former chief creative officer of Marvel Entertainment. The film is a co-production between Nintendo and Arad Productions.

The Legend of Zelda is set to hit theaters on May 7, 2027, by Sony Pictures Releasing.
