The first look at Zoe Saldaña, Nicole Kidman, and Laysla De Oliveira in the spy thriller series ‘Special Ops: Lioness’ from Taylor Sheridan has been revealed. The series follows a Marine recruited to befriend a terrorist’s daughter to bring the organization down from within. See the images below.
The series is created by Academy Award nominee Taylor Sheridan, the powerhouse producer behind Yellowstone and its spin-offs. The cast also includes Dave Annable, LaMonica Garrett, Jonah Wharton, Hannah Love Lanier, and Morgan Freeman.
In the series, Saldaña plays Joe, a strong-willed, hard-nosed, station chief of the CIA’s Lioness program, tasked with training, managing, and leading her female undercover operatives working to assassinate the world’s most dangerous terrorists. Lioness is based on a real-life military program (previously, there was a documentary based on a specialized group of women).
Speaking to Vanity Fair, Saldaña said, “He sent me a pilot he wanted me to read, and if I responded well to it, he really wanted to continue writing this character around me.” Saldaña added, “When you get a call from someone like Taylor Sheridan…. You work really hard, expecting those calls. And when you get those calls, you don’t believe them. I’m known for being the queen of sabotaging myself.”
Produced by MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios, with Tom Brady (NOS4A2) at the helm as executive producer and showrunner.
‘Special Ops: Lioness‘ will premiere on Paramount+ this summer. The exact release date is not yet revealed.
