First-look images of Nicolas Cage in the Spider-Noir suit, captured during the filming of an action scene, were leaked by TMZ. In these images, we see an accurate portrayal of the Spider-Noir character from Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. See the images below.
Cage’s Spider-Noir is standing atop an old jalopy, attempting to stop the villains. His Spider-Noir suit looks like a mish-mashed Spider-Man/Batman hybrid. TMZ reported that he’s wearing a ski mask, goggles, combat boots, trench coat, and trademark fedora—less spandex and more steampunk.
According to producer Amy Pascal, Cage’s Spider-Man Noir is described as a “broken-down, busted Spider-Man” for the Spider-Noir series.
Recently, set images captured Cage holding a copy of the Daily Bugle, featuring a headline that reads, “Silvermane Survives in Skivvies,” hinting at clues to the storyline. It has already been reported that Silvermane and Yuri Watanabe will be appearing in the show.
Here’s the official synopsis for Spider-Noir:
In Spider-Noir, “We follow Ben Reilly (Cage), a private investigator, as he stumbles down a rabbit hole of corruption in 1933 New York City, while also establishing his past as a superhero. Reilly investigates the death of Edward Addison, which leads him to discover that the Mayor is up to something nefarious that involves crime boss Silvermane and femme fatale Yuri Watanabe.”
The show also stars Lamorne Morris, Brendan Gleeson, Abraham Popoola, Li Jun Li, Whitney Rice, Karen Rodriguez, Jack Huston, Amanda Schull, Lukas Haas, Cameron Britton, Scoot MacArthur, Michael Kostroff, Joe Massingill, and Cary Christopher.
Oren Uziel (‘22 Jump Street’) and Steve Lightfoot (‘The Punisher’) serve as co-showrunners and executive producers for Spider-Noir. They developed the series with the Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse team of Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Pascal, all of whom also executive produce. Harry Bradbeer will executive produce and direct the first two episodes, with Pascal executive producing via Pascal Pictures.
The series is produced by Sony Pictures Television and Amazon MGM Studios, with Lord and Miller currently under an overall deal at Sony.
Spider-Noir will debut domestically on MGM+’s linear channel and then stream globally on Amazon Prime Video.
