Martin, is based on his novel “Tales of Dunk and Egg.” It stars Peter Claffey as Ser Duncan the Tall, Dexter Sol Ansell as Egg, Finn Bennett as Prince Aerion Targaryen, Bertie Carvel as Prince Baelor Targaryen, Tanzyn Crawford as Tanselle, a puppeteer, Daniel Ings as Ser Lyonel Baratheon, a knight known as the Laughing Storm, Sam Spruell as Prince Maekar Targaryen, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor as Plummer, Youssef Kerkour as Steely Pate, Danny Webb as Arlan of Pennytree, Daniel Monks as Manfred Dondarrion, Rowan Robinson, Steven Calvert, and Abigail O’Regan.
What is the Plot of A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms?
A century before the events of Game of Thrones, two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros… a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg. Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.
During production, the show’s creator, R.R. Martin, told The Hollywood Reporter, “I visited the set in Northern Ireland in July and loved what I saw. Great cast. [The lead characters] Dunk and Egg look as if they walked right out of the pages of my book. My readers are going to love them. I certainly do. [Showrunner Ira Parker] is doing a great job.”
Martin and Ira Parker serve as writers and executive producers on the show. Also, Ryan Condal, Vince Gerardis, Owen Harris, and Sarah Bradshaw are also executive producers. It is confirmed that Harris is directing the first three episodes, and Sarah Adina Smith will direct the remaining three. The first season will consist of six episodes.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will premiere on HBO and Max in 2025.
