'Game of Thrones' Spin-Off 'The Hedge Knight' Set to Premiere in Late 2025

The new ‘Game of Thrones‘ spin-off series, ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight,’ is set to premiere in late 2025, as confirmed by Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav.

‘The Hedge Knight’ spin-off is based on Martin’s Dunk and Egg novellas, following the adventures of Dunk and Egg roughly 100 years before the events of the novels. “A century before the events of Game of Thrones, two unlikely heroes wandered Westeros… a young, naïve but courageous knight, Ser Duncan the Tall, and his diminutive squire, Egg. Set in an age when the Targaryen line still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon has not yet passed from living memory, great destinies, powerful foes, and dangerous exploits all await these improbable and incomparable friends.” The show is expected to begin production sometime this year.

Zaslav said, “[Creator and executive producer] George R.R. Martin is in pre-production for the new spin-off, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which will premiere in late 2025 on Max.”

HBO is reportedly developing a new ‘Game of Thrones’ spin-off series titled ‘Aegon’s Conquest‘ from writer Mattson Tomlin (‘The Batman’), which follows the Targaryen’s bloody and brutal conquest of Westeros.

Recently, Martin has confirmed that three animated ‘Game of Thrones’ series are currently in development. One of these, titled ‘Nine Voyages,’ will delve into the legendary voyages of the Sea Snake.

HBO released the first trailer for ‘House of the Dragon’ Season 2 during the CCXP fan convention in Brazil. ‘House of the Dragon’ is serving as a prequel to ‘Game of Thrones.’ Set about 100 years after the Targaryen Conquest, it follows the events leading to the “Dance of the Dragons” war. The first season premiered in August 2022, and the series has been renewed for a second season by HBO, with Ryan Condal as the showrunner. The series was created by George R. R. Martin and Condal for HBO. According to reports, HBO is reportedly considering a Season 3 for ‘House of the Dragon’ after wrapping up Season 2.

‘House of the Dragon’ season 2 will consist of eight episodes and is scheduled to premiere on Max in August 2024.
