Joseph Kosinski‘s F1 movie ‘Apex,’ starring Brad Pitt, has a budget of over $300 million, making it one of the most expensive films ever, as confirmed by ESPN F1 on Twitter (X).
The film, produced by Apple Studios, began filming in July 2023 and is still ongoing. According to reports, the budget for the movie has reportedly surpassed $300 million as of now. They have shot during actual F1 races and used the smallest moveable 6K camera ever. (See the shooting spot footage)
The Puck reports that ‘Apex’ has yet to secure a studio for the theatrical rights. In the film, Pitt portrays Sonny Hayes, a former Formula One driver who experienced a devastating crash in the 1990s, leading to his retirement from the sport. However, he is called back into the racing world by a Formula One team owner and friend, who requests his assistance in mentoring rookie prodigy Joshua Pearce on the Apex Grand Prix team (APXGP).
Directed by Kosinski from a screenplay by Ehren Kruger, the film also stars Damson Idris as Joshua Pearce, Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, Javier Bardem as Sonny Hayes’ friend and APXGP team principal, Lewis Hamilton as himself, Sarah Niles as Joshua Pearce’s mother, and Will Merrick.
