Warning: This post contains potential spoilers for Avengers: Doomsday.
Marvel President Kevin Feige has revealed that Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars will connect differently than Infinity War and Endgame. Feige says Avengers: Secret Wars is “the most ambitious project” he has ever worked on.
In an interview with Fandango following the debut of Avengers: Doomsday trailer at CinemaCon, Feige said that many fans expect the two movies to follow the same two-part story style, but that will not happen. Avengers: Doomsday will still lead into Avengers: Secret Wars, but in a new way.

Feige said, “They relate in a very different way than Infinity War and Endgame. I think people are expecting a similar connection. While one certainly does lead into the other, it’s in a very different way.”
Feige says Avengers: Doomsday is inspired by a famous Marvel comic storyline. The story will involve universes colliding with one another.
Feige teased, “I think people know that the story of Doomsday is inspired by a very famous comic run in which universes are colliding, Earths encounter one another, and different timelines encounter one another… It just felt like an amazing opportunity to pit multiple universes against each other, while still making you care about all of them.”
Feige said bringing back Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom felt like the perfect opportunity.
“At the time, [Downey] was on his way to winning the Academy Award for Oppenheimer, and every story was calling him ‘the greatest actor in the world,’ and we thought, ‘This could be it. Let’s do it.’
It’s our universe. It’s a multiverse. We can do whatever the heck we want. He played the most iconic hero. Let’s have him play the most iconic villain.”
Here’s the new synopsis for Avengers: Doomsday from Walt Disney Studios:
“Beloved heroes from three distinct universes will be set on a deadly collision course and face an existential threat unlike anything they’ve ever encountered.”
