A new Avengers: Doomsday report claims Wesley Holloway will play James Rogers, the son of Steve Rogers and Peggy Carter.

Warning: This post contains potential spoilers for Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday.

Following the Walt Disney Pictures presentation at CinemaCon 2026, the studio shared the first synopsis for Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday, which revealed a new cast member.

The new synopsis reads, “In Avengers: Doomsday, beloved heroes from three distinct universes will be set on a deadly collision course and face an existential threat unlike anything they’ve ever encountered.”

It has been reported that new cast addition Wesley Holloway has joined Avengers: Doomsday. He is reportedly playing James Rogers, the son of Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers and Hayley Atwell’s Peggy Carter.

The first teaser for Doomsday already showed Steve Rogers with a baby, and the official trailer screened during CinemaCon 2026 revealed that Steve now looks completely different, with long hair and a beard. This suggests that James Rogers will be grown up.

After the events of Endgame, but before the end of Loki Season 2, Loki finds Steve living with Peggy Carter and their son and warns him that the TVA will erase their timeline because Steve is not meant to be there. Loki secretly moves Steve and his family to the Fantastic Four’s universe (Earth-828) so they can live safely.

At CinemaCon, Evans said he only agreed to return if there was a good reason, adding that in Avengers: Doomsday, “there is a very good reason.”

Speaking to Fandango, Joe Russo discussed bringing back Evans as Steve Rogers in Avengers: Doomsday:

“It felt to us like the correct way for us to come back would be to continue the story of that character, to work with Robert Downey Jr. again. That was really the thing that excited all of us—we found a path forward that was integral and truly required both Chris and Robert for the story to be told.”

Directed by Anthony Russo and Joe Russo and written by Stephen McFeely, Avengers: Doomsday stars Robert Downey Jr., Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Pedro Pascal, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Wyatt Russell, Channing Tatum, Simu Liu, Ian McKellen, Tom Hiddleston, James Marsden, Patrick Stewart, Joseph Quinn, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Letitia Wright, Lewis Pullman, Kelsey Grammer, Danny Ramirez, Winston Duke, Alan Cumming, Wesley Holloway, Hannah John-Kamen, Rebecca Romijn, Alex Livinalli, and Mabel Cadena, with Tenoch Huerta Mejía.

The film is produced by Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, and Jonathan Schwartz, with Callum McDougall serving as executive producer.

Avengers: Doomsday will be released in theaters across the United States on December 18, 2026, and Avengers: Secret Wars is scheduled for release on December 17, 2027.
