Marvel Comics has announced a new ongoing series for “Captain America.” The series will be written by J. Michael Straczynski, an acclaimed writer, and filmmaker known for his work on titles like “Amazing Spider-Man” and “Thor.” The artist for the series will be Jesús Saiz, who has previously worked on books such as “The Punisher” and “Doctor Strange.”
The story will explore a situation where powerful and insidious forces are assembling to prevent Steve Rogers, the iconic Captain America, from changing the world again. The plot will involve a collision of past, present, and future, as Steve Rogers confronts an existential threat that seeks to push the world towards a darker path.
In an interview with io9, J. Michael Straczynski revealed his goal to tell challenging and enjoyable stories, delving into the depths of Steve Rogers’ character in ways that may not have been explored previously. He said, “Overall, the goal is to do some really challenging stories, some really fun stories, and get inside Steve’s head to see who he really is in ways that may not have been fully explored before. If folks like what I did with Peter in Amazing Spider-Man, and Thor in, well… Thor, then they should give this a shot, because I’m really swinging for the bleachers in this one!”
The new “Captain America” series will debut with a new issue #1 in September.
