Marvel Studios is reportedly planning to wrap up the Kang the Conqueror storyline in the MCU. What happens to Kang will be seen in the upcoming Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday.

During a recent episode of The Hot Mic, Jeff Sneider revealed that Marvel Studios will be concluding the Kang storyline, with Robert Downey Jr.‘s Doctor Doom—rumored to be the one to kill Kang and the Council of Kangs.

Sneider said, “In one of the Avengers movies, probably Doomsday, I’ve heard that Doctor Doom could be the one who kills him. That makes sense, right?”

Marvel’s early plan was to keep Kang as the main villain in the MCU, but due to the poor response received for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and the allegations against Jonathan Majors, Marvel scrapped the movies Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Secret Wars. Instead, they are bringing back Downey Jr. to the MCU as Doctor Doom, and the script will focus on Doom’s Battleworld creation.

I have reported that “Avengers: Doomsday will be a multiverse film—because it’s the conclusion of the Multiverse Saga. The plot of Avengers: Doomsday follows Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom, who isn’t truly evil; he believes he is trying to save the multiverse from incursions. In his twisted logic, the only way for the multiverse to survive is to unify all universes in one place—Battleworld—under his rule. He sees this as the sole path to ensuring survival for everyone.”

Avengers: Doomsday is scheduled to begin filming in April 2025 in London, UK, and wrap by August 2025. The film will be directed by the Russo Brothers from a screenplay by Stephen McFeely.

In Avengers: Doomsday, Downey Jr. will play the role of Doctor Doom, Chris Evans as an Nomad, Tom Holland as Spider-Man, Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm, Wyatt Russell as US Agent, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, David Harbour as Red Guardian, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Captain America, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as The Thing, Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II as Wonder Man, Dafne Keen as Laura Kinney/X-23 and Kelsey Grammer as Hank McCoy/Beast, and Channing Tatum as Gambit.

A recent report from insider Daniel Richtman revealed that due to Holland’s busy schedule and other film commitments, some of the Spider-Man scenes in Avengers: Doomsday will be done by a stunt double.

Produced by Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, and Russo Brothers will produce through their AGBO banner.

Avengers: Doomsday is set to be released on May 1, 2026, and Avengers: Secret Wars will be released on May 7, 2027.
