The upcoming Avengers movies are rumored to bring back Michael B. Jordan, who played Erik Killmonger in the MCU.
In the December Discord Q&A with Alex Perez (via The Cosmic Circus), it was revealed that Jordan may be returning for one of the upcoming Avengers films, Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. It is unclear whether he will reprise his role as Killmonger or play a new character.
Back in 2022, during an interview with Extra TV, Jordan opened up the possibility of returning to the MCU.
Jordan said, “I don’t know if it’s a possibility. I mean, at one point or another, being able to be in the Marvel Universe was like a dream come true, and if there was an opportunity for me to come back, of course, I would.”
He added, “I’m not one of those guys like, ‘Oh no, I would never.’ Working with [director Ryan Coogler], what we did on that first project, and what Marvel does as a whole, is something that, as a fan, as the nerd and geek that I am, I just love to see those movies and those characters come to life.”
Jordan played Erik Killmonger in the MCU, first appearing in Black Panther (2018) as the main antagonist. His mission to use Wakanda’s resources to fight global oppression made him one of the MCU’s most compelling villains. He then reprised the role in a cameo in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022), appearing to Shuri in the Ancestral Plane and challenging her motives as she prepared for battle. Additionally, Jordan voiced alternate versions of Killmonger in the animated series What If…? (2021), where he saved Tony Stark, manipulated events to seize power, and later betrayed the Guardians of the Multiverse in pursuit of the Infinity Stones.
