I realized that’s what I want. “I wanted to be the woman that my mother is to me and I wanted to be the woman that my grandmother was to me,’ she adds, ‘so it was never my intention to be a wife. But after meeting Jake and seeing that she didn’t have to be the stereotypical wife for him. He doesn’t want it to be that either. He wants me to do my thing and live my life, and he will take me by the hand in the process,’ I thought, ‘Oh, I do want this.”
Millie Bobby Brown Opens Up About Dealing with Criticism During ‘Stranger Things’ Promotions
Millie talks about frequent criticism of her while promoting Stranger Things: “We’re kids; we talk over each other,’ Brown says now, ‘and I was penalized for talking too much, for sharing too much, and for making too much noise.’ Those adults called her ‘dumb’ and ‘immature’.” She added, “It’s hard to hear that when you’re 13,’ he recalls, ‘and you think: I never want to talk again.’ In the interviews, I couldn’t help but think about all the comments. So I remembered to be silent and speak when they spoke to me, even though I was dying to participate. I just felt like it wasn’t my turn.”
