Black Panther 3 is currently one of Marvel Studios’ top priorities following Avengers: Doomsday.
According to Alex P (via The Cosmic Circus), T’Challa Jr. will reportedly no longer be referred to as “Junior” and will simply be known as T’Challa moving forward. The film is said to focus on T’Challa in a coming-of-age story centered on legacy and what it means to inherit the mantle of Black Panther.
It is rumored that Nakia will oppose T’Challa becoming the Black Panther and inheriting the Wakandan throne. Ryan Coogler is said to be exploring themes of family, legacy, and responsibility in the sequel.
Black Panther 3 will reportedly feature stronger supernatural elements, including deeper connections to the Ancestral Plane. Mutants are also expected to play a role in the film, with the story reportedly expanding beyond Namor’s involvement.
The insider says Marvel could announce several major MCU projects during San Diego Comic-Con 2026. Among the films reportedly expected are Doctor Strange 3, Black Panther 3, Shang-Chi 2, Spider-Man 5, the X-Men reboot, Thunderbolts 2, Blade, Midnight Sons, and the next Avengers installment.
During Happy Sad Confused, Coogler opened up about Black Panther 3.
Coogler said, “It’s a movie I’m incredibly excited about. That’s really the truth of it. I did get a chance to explore an inescapable human emotion, which is grief, with Wakanda Forever.”
Ryan Coogler also revealed that he is developing a specific role for Denzel Washington.
Coogler said, “Denzel is family at this point.” He added, “I’ve been trying to work with him since day one. I think he’s the greatest living actor. In terms of what he means to our culture — forget about it, man.”
Washington is rumored to play the main villain in Black Panther 3. Although the character has not been revealed, he is expected to have deep ties to Wakandan history, including the War Dogs and Hatut Zeraze.
Eyes of Wakanda explores thousands of years of Wakandan history across four different time periods: 1260 B.C., 1200 B.C., 1400 A.D., and 1896 A.D. The series is now the earliest story in the MCU timeline and may tease what fans can expect from the next live-action Black Panther movie.
Disney has recently added three new Marvel movie release dates to its 2028–2029 slate. Confirmed upcoming Marvel films include Spider-Man: Brand New Day (July 31, 2026), Avengers: Doomsday (December 18, 2026), and Avengers: Secret Wars (December 17, 2027). Marvel Studios also has five untitled films currently scheduled for May 5, 2028; July 28, 2028; December 15, 2028; May 4, 2029; and July 13, 2029, with the July 2028, May 2029, and July 2029 dates being newly added.
