Warning: This article contains spoilers for Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday.
The reshoots involving Tobey Maguire‘s Spider-Man scenes were filmed using motion capture. Following the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Maguire’s Spider-Man suit has reportedly been upgraded, and we will get to see it in Avengers: Doomsday.
According to insider DanielRPK, Maguire reportedly used motion capture for his Avengers: Doomsday scenes because an upgraded version of his Spider-Man suit wasn’t finished in time.
He’s expected to wear the new suit during reshoots or in Avengers: Secret Wars.

There are also rumors that Maguire’s Spider-Man suit in Doomsday resembles the red-and-gold Ultimate Iron Spider suit.
According to @MyTimeToShineH, every major character dies in Avengers: Doomsday before returning in Avengers: Secret Wars. The issue isn’t their deaths, but that Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine are killed off early, keeping them out of most of the film. They are expected to return in Avengers: Secret Wars, along with the rest of the heroes. The source also argues that sidelining two fan-favorite characters for most of the movie would be a disappointing creative decision.
The opening scene of Avengers: Doomsday features Hugh Jackman‘s Wolverine and Ryan Reynolds‘ Deadpool traveling to Maguire’s Spider-Man’s Earth in an attempt to destroy it before it collides with their own universe.
Avengers: Doomsday is reportedly set across at least six universes: the X-Men universe, a hidden pocket universe, Earth-616 (the main MCU universe), Earth-828 (the Fantastic Four’s universe), Doctor Doom’s original universe, and Tobey Maguire’s Spider-Man universe.
Robert Downey Jr.‘s Doctor Doom will reportedly have a large collection of trinkets and artifacts he has gathered throughout his adventures, including the Word of God. That’s reportedly why he is so powerful, even without Loki’s abilities to make him a god. He will have witches and individuals that can perform magic by his side.
We previously reported that the Avengers: Doomsday script features Ian McKellen’s Magneto battling villains from Maguire’s Spider-Man universe.
Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and written by Stephen McFeely, Avengers: Doomsday stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Pedro Pascal, Paul Rudd, Anthony Mackie, Florence Pugh, Vanessa Kirby, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Wyatt Russell, Channing Tatum, Simu Liu, Ian McKellen, Tom Hiddleston, James Marsden, Patrick Stewart, Joseph Quinn, Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Letitia Wright, Lewis Pullman, Kelsey Grammer, Danny Ramirez, Winston Duke, Alan Cumming, Wesley Holloway, Hannah John-Kamen, Rebecca Romijn, Alex Livinalli, and Mabel Cadena, with Tenoch Huerta Mejía.
In Avengers: Doomsday, beloved heroes from three distinct universes are set on a deadly collision course, facing an existential threat unlike anything they have ever encountered.
The film is produced by Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, and Jonathan Schwartz, with Callum McDougall serving as executive producer.
Avengers: Doomsday will be released in theaters across the United States on December 18, 2026, and Avengers: Secret Wars is scheduled for release on December 17, 2027.
