Following the trailer release of the Wonder Man series, new plot details from the show have leaked, with the finale reportedly connecting to the Vision Quest series.
The Wonder Man series is described as “a blend of dark humor, Hollywood satire, and mystery with a touch of thriller.” Inspired by the classic Wonder Man comics, it explores the messy, human side of fame, redemption, and identity within the MCU.
The story follows Simon Williams (Yahya Abdul-Mateen II), a former businessman who loses his family company, Williams Innovations, after years of competing with Stark Industries. Broke and desperate for a fresh start, Simon heads to Hollywood to reinvent himself as an actor — but things take an unexpected turn when A.I.M. recruits him for an experiment with ionic energy, offering him power and a shot at redemption.
The experiment unexpectedly gives Simon incredible abilities, including super strength, endurance, and a body made of pure energy, but it also leaves him unstable and hunted by the organization that created him. As he tries to juggle his rising acting career with his new identity as Wonder Man, he begins to uncover a criminal network using ionic energy for dark purposes.
Joining him is Trevor Slattery (Ben Kingsley), who brings humor and sharp commentary on the absurdities of Hollywood, while Simon finds himself caught in a world where fame, corruption, and science collide.
The Grim Reaper (Demetrius Grosse), Simon’s brother, appears to be the main villain — he wants to take revenge on the people who destroyed their family and confront Wonder Man, whom he blames for it all.
In its final episodes, the series will tie directly into Vision Quest, exploring the connection between Simon and the ionic technology that also created White Vision.
The cast of the series includes Abdul-Mateen II as Simon Williams/Wonder Man, Kingsley as Trevor Slattery, Grosse as Eric Williams/Grim Reaper, Ed Harris as Neal Saroyan, Arian Moayed as P. Cleary, Zlatko Burić as Von Kovak, Bechir Sylvain as Sanford Williams, Lauren Glazier, Byron Bowers, Josh Gad, Olivia Thirlby, and X Mayo.
The series was created by Destin Daniel Cretton and Andrew Guest, and produced by Kevin Feige, Stephen Broussard, Jonathan Schwartz, Brad Winderbaum, Cretton, and Guest.
Wonder Man will premiere on Disney+ on January 27, 2026.
